Coaches

NOW SEEKING COACHES

DO YOU LIKE GOOD FOOD?
DO YOU LIKE TO TRAVEL?
DO YOU LIKE PEOPLE?
FIND OUT HOW TO BECOME
A CULINARY TRAVEL INDUSTRY COACH
(WE DON'T LIKE THE PHRASE "SALES REP")

FoodTrekker.com, our consumer culinary travel website, and the International Culinary Tourism Association, are looking for coaches in communities all over the world to shepherd our sales, marketing and service initiatives. If you’re a passionate foodie and you have excellent relationships in the foodservice and tourism industries in your local area, then this role is for you. Coaches are independent contractors whose remuneration is entirely commission based so if you have a good network of contacts, and a passion for culinary travel, then you could do quite well.

As we grow in breadth of our programs and world-wide recognition, we need an efficient way to reach out to our constituents around the world. We need to speak with businesses in every sector of our industry in every town and country, and in every language. We are building a team of coaches around the world who serve as our local ambassadors. Coaching involves communications (marketing), counsel/advising (sales, but not necessarily cold calling) and service (relationship building), as well as a strong focus on local culinary tourism community-building. The role is as an independent contractor, and pay is commission only (no salary). Still successful coaches realistically can earn about US$36,000 per year (part-time), while superstar coaches can earn much more. The work can be part-time or full-time because you set your own schedule. To be a successful coach, you should already have a good network of contacts in the food, drink and/or travel industries in your own area.

From you we require the ability to speak and write English well enough to be able to communicate with our office (but you coach in your own language). We also ask that you are serious enough to make a commitment to coaching for at least 6 months to one year (at the minimum just in a very part-time way).

To apply or to receive an invitation to view our detailed overview video, please send an email with your cover letter and CV to erik (at) culinarytourism (dot) org.

Internships

Unfortunately we are not accepting any new applications for Internships at this time.  Our internships are full until September 2012.  Please check this page later for updates.

We offer internships only at our Portland, Oregon office. During all or part of your internship, it is very likely that you may have an opportunity to work with the Association President and culinary tourism industry founder Erik Wolf.

While we cannot offer to pay for any relocation expenses or room & board, we do however offer a once in a lifetime internship experience that will prepare you for a life in the culinary tourism industry.

If you would like to apply for an internship or if you have any questions, please contact us. We will review your application and contact you upon approval.

Developers

SEEKING FRONT-END & BACK-END DEVELOPER. JOIN THE (R)EVOLUTION

FoodTrekker.com, the global culinary resource for foodies and its partner, the International Culinary Tourism Association, are looking for both a front-end and a back-end developer to join our team, initially on a contract basis. You must have a minimum of 5 years of experience and have solved complex technology problems with cutting edge web technologies. If you’re also a foodie, then this is a match made in heaven.

FoodTrekker.com is built on the Symfony 2 application framework using PHP 5.3. Other technologies we use are HTML5; CSS3; MongoDB; MySQL; Twig; RabbitMQ; ElasticSearch; JQuery; and SASS. The CulinaryTourism.org website is built with Drupal. The two sister sites are connected by CRM,  e-commerce and service APIs. The large majority of your work will be focused on the FoodTrekker.com web property.

We’re inviting you to join the (r)evolution of the food and drink publishing industry. Supporting smaller and local businesses is the future of our food industry and a critical part of supporting our fragile local economies. FoodTrekker supports local, independent food businesses in many ways that position it as the evolution of food and drink publishing.

If we like each other, then we can discuss a longer term relationship such as a salaried position. If you’re like us, you want to get out of the rat race and be an active contributor to a forward-thinking and fun organization with a bright future. You'll join an exciting, dynamic and experienced team, building an exciting and fun global brand using the newest web technologies.

To apply, please send an email with your cover letter and CV to erik (at) culinarytourism (dot) org.
